Lost coin purchases

Three times this week I've hit continue and spent 10 coins only to get a continuous spinning wheel and no extra moves and having to exit game with loss of coins and moves. Seems to happen when boosters are nearing end of play time - ie double fish with less than a minute. What gives?????
