This is a new feature, and a small group of players can test it.
I donβt have much info, but what I understand is; you get coins by playing new levels. Harder levels grants more coins. With the coins you can feed the bear so it will grow and you will be rewarded with a wonderball.
I just tried it out in my game, and from my screenshot it shows that I have to feed the bear 10x with 20 coins to make it grow 1 stage. At the very end I can claim the wonderball and then (I think) I will enter the next stage.

I'm sorry for my delay in responding to your comment recently in December last year! About this event, I had just found out about this strategy of passing new levels and earning even more bear coins to buy chocolate bars to feed this Gummi Bear and win Wonderballs!
And this was said during my holiday while playing this pop-up event in my game when I had already completed all of Gummi Bear's growth categories!

The ads are too long and they wonβt close when I hit the βXβ. Candy Crush has those annoying ads set up that way! When I finally close the ad, a screen pops up in my safari and then the ad continues for another five seconds!! Come on NOW!! We donβt want that π©!!!
