Won't update Soda Race - Says not connected to Internet

For the past week the Soda Race participants are not updating. I keep getting a message saying We Detected A Connection Issue... I have included screen shots of the problem. Everything was normal one day and then this occurred the next. I am connected to the internet so that isn't the problem...

Ads are freezing and having to close app each time
Whenever I choose to watch ads for a bonus or extra lives etc, the ads have started to freeze. It’s the ad for teaching or education or something. It’s so annoying. I’m losing levels because of it and happened about 6-10 times in the last hour I have been playing. What is causing this?
