How do I use a line blaster booster

I am playing level 25.  I only have one move left and 3 remaining pieces of cheese all on the second-to-last row.  I thought I could just choose a line blaster booster and place it on the bottom row since I already have a word to make.  However, when I place the line blaster, it doesn't seem to lock in place so that I can choose letters.  What am I doing wrong?

Rich Text Editor. To edit a paragraph's style, hit tab to get to the paragraph menu. From there you will be able to pick one style. Nothing defaults to paragraph. An inline formatting menu will show up when you select text. Hit tab to get into that menu. Some elements, such as rich link embeds, images, loading indicators, and error messages may get inserted into the editor. You may navigate to these using the arrow keys inside of the editor and delete them with the delete or backspace key.
