How do you ever pop BLANK bubbles in Alpha Betty?

In level 22 I encountered BLANK bubbles and it tells me I have those left. How can you possibly pop blank bubbles that have no letters in them to connect?

Normally blank tiles can be used in order to make any letter you want, but it does not count in the total tally for the number of letters in the word. Have you tried using the tile?
