countdown going down 2-3 instead of 1 at a time

I'm noticing that sometimes when I create a word, the counter goes down 2 or 3 numbers instead of just one. Why is it doing this.  I've tried to figure out why and its not consistent.  For example. I have 25 moves left.  I create a 5 letter word and the counter jumps down to 20.  What is causing this?

Most likely the tile bombs (blue circular tiles with a countdown number in the corner) that blow up before being defused, every time that happens it will take 2 moves off you so watch out for them!
