The word Yiddish is not recognized by Alphabetty. In fact, many words in the official Scrabble Dictionary are not recognized by Alphabetty. For that matter, Yiddish is in the Merriam-Webster Dictionary. What dictionary does Alphabetty use?

I'm pretty sure it uses the Myriam-Webster dictionary. When in doubt just double check with Scrabble, If the all-mighty Scrabble doesn't allow it, no-one does.

Yiddish, as you've correctly spelt it, requires capitalisation and would therefore not be allowed in most word games.

As there are no penalties for trying a word that's not allowed I'm not sure how it would help to know precisely what dictionary is in use. Much quicker all round just to learn on the fly.
