AlphaBetty: Beginner's Guide

Like all amazing games, AlphaBetty Saga is easy to grasp but difficult to master. This gameplay primer is to help you get started in the world of AlphaBetty Saga and transform you from a grammar greenhorn, into a spelling specialist!

What is Alpha Betty?
In its simplest form, AlphaBetty Saga is reminiscent of a word search; you are presented with a board of letters and have to find valid words within it.

How do I select words?
Select neighbouring letters to create valid words (3 letters or more). You can either swipe your finger along the letters or tap to make a selection.

To swipe, just drag your finger across the letters of the word you want to select; if it’s a valid word, your selection will turn green, if not it will remain blue.

Tapping works in a similar way: tap each letter of the word you want to select, once you have finished your selection, tap any letter of the word you have created. If the word is valid, your selection will be green and will disappear off the board, If not it will be blue and will simply deselect.

Valid words
Words can be selected from left-to-right and top-to-bottom, but to add a little spice to things you can also select words from right-to-left and bottom-to-top, meaning B-A-C-K-W-A-R-D-S AND S-D-R-A-W-K-C-A-B are both valid!

But wait, there’s more! You can also select words diagonally. Cheese-Tastic!

Tile Types
In AlphaBetty, letters appear on tiles and different tile types can help your wordsmithing in a variety of ways. The normal tiles are your basic everyday tile. Letters on normal tiles display a point value in their bottom corner. The score of a valid word is dictated by this point value, so try finding words that contain letters with high values!

Blank tiles have no value but the good thing about them is that they can fill in for a missing letter. They can help fill gaps and allow you to create long and complicated words.

Silver tiles are useful in that they double the value of the letter contained within. Even better still is the Gold tile; this doubles the cumulative value of any word that contains a golden tile, so the shinier your word the better!

Lineblast and Shuffle
Now we have the basics under our belt, let’s look at the Lineblast and Shuffle.

The Lineblast is a reward for an awesome vocabulary; create a word with 5 or more letters and you’ll receive a Lineblast. You can use a Lineblast to destroy tiles of all kinds, making it a handy little tool to have.

Shuffle is another handy little doodad that mixes up the board. Create words to fill up the shuffle booster - great for getting you out of a wordless jam.

King Crown
Crowns help you finish your objectives and react differently depending on the game mode – they are extremely versatile. They randomly land on a letter tile on the board whenever a 4-tile word is created. When you use it within a word, something wondrous happens to help you with a particular objective.

Go forth adventurers!
Hopefully you feel primed and ready. The next step is to go forth and hunt down those words mercilessly, leave no dictionary unturned!

What do the numbers in the box at the top left of the screen mean?  There are 3 lines. Each line has either 6, 7, 0r 8 and then each has a number to the right that I think tells how many of each you need to make in order to win. The problem is I can't figure out what the 6, 7, and 8 on the left means.  Is it point values?  Number of letters needed? I'm trying to figure it out but can't find any consistency as to how you get these.

Hi @Putupon ans welcome to our Community!

Are you on a Collect the Words level?

    And referring to these:

If so, the numbers on the right in the tiles are how many letters the word need to be and the number to the left is how many words you need to do.

In the pic above you will need to make 7 words with at least 7 letters and 3 words with at least 8 letters.

Remember that the King Crowns that you get by making 4-letter words add one more letter to the word. So a word with five letters that have two King Crowns is counted as a 7-letter word!

    Crazy Cat Lad,

Yes, I am on a "collect the words level." I think the crowns  threw me off.  Makes more sense now.

    Thanks so much.
