What does the crown in the library mean?

stupid question, but at the play screen before starting the level, what does the crown (with #’s) under the 3 cheesy stars mean? What is it there for & how do i collect?

the crown in this example represents 20 sets of three crowns  ... click the crown before the game starts to add 3 crowns to the board on the first move
