There is no secret: It's the 10x multiplier tokens. They do what their name implies: They multiply the score of each level by a factor of ten. So if you play one level per minute, and each level gives you 100 blues, then in three minutes you get 300 blue and with the multiplier token that is a score of 3000 (300 x 10) blue…

Yes, that is correct. No player is guaranteed a place even if they come first in the final round. There is a vetting system in place and King make the final decision on who will get a place at the live finals.

I don't think that's quite how it works @michimune . The leaderboard either goes stagnant or moves but I don't get the impression that it is related to whether the app is open or not.
