Tiffi is totally amazed at how much they are sharing their likes and dislikes. She decides to call Elsa to tell her what’s been going on. She sends her a text message along with the picture that she took of both of them. Elsa doesn’t respond so perhaps she’s busy creating a new story. Tiffi leaves a phone message for her.
An hour later, Elsa returns Tiffi’s phone call.
“Elsa, I loved your story about Nutcracker having a twin,” says Tiffi. “The boys just spent the last hour comparing their likes and dislikes. They might be identical when you look at them, but they are not truly identical with their likes and dislikes.”
Elsa chuckles at how much Tiffi is learning about identical twins. She shares with her some facts that she found out about them.
“Here is some very interesting information that I found,” says Elsa.
Twins don't have matching fingerprints or the same DNA. Despite popular belief, twins are not clones of each other. Twins don't share the same fingerprints for example because even though they share a womb, they sit in different places in the womb, which gives them a different set of prints. They also don't share the same DNA because studies have found that identical twins can have different DNA sequences.
Each twin is a different person. It might seem like common sense to view separate people separately, but for some reason, that notion goes out the window when it comes to twins. Whether you're trying to buy them a present or thinking of how to communicate with them, it's important to remember that works for one twin doesn't necessarily mean it'll work for the other. Since they were probably raised in the same house by the same people, they will likely have a few things in common, but their interests might be few and far between. Witnessing this firsthand will make you think twice about nature vs. nurture. (Read more here)
Tiffi loves all this new information that Elsa is sharing. She promises to get back to her in a bit and maybe she can co-author with her again. Tiffi has to get back on Google to learn more.
Let's continue with the next part of our story – What is twintuition?
Start at the beginning – Tiffi co-authors another story – It’s a twin thing! (Sequel to "The story of Jean-Luc")
If you have not yet read the story of how Nutcracker learns that he has a twin, then please read The story of Jean_Luc first.
