Father and son sit down to have a long talk.
“Chewy it’s not that I left you alone that day,” king says. “You were with your mother and I had to do some royal things. I wasn’t expecting a volcano to shoot out of the ground and splatter bubblegum all over the place. When I got back to the castle, your mother was standing outside shouting your name. She looked so distraught as she told me that she left you inside alone because she had to talk to the gardener. She told me that she was outside talking to the gardener a bit longer than she expected and then she heard this rumbling noise coming from the ground. By the time she got back to the front of the house the castle had collapsed. We both thought that you had died in the castle. She felt so guilty leaving you alone inside. She died of heartbreak a week later.”
Chewy was happy to have his father back, but he lost his mother and that is bringing tears to his eyes.
His mother’s death really hits home. Maybe he never should have left her there alone. He starts walking around and his father follows him to the other side of the bridge.
“What happened to you, where did you go?” questions the king.
Chewy starts explaining to him that he got bored sitting in the castle by himself and he wasn’t sure how long she would be talking to the gardener so he went outside to play. He was riding his bike down the road and had gone a few blocks when he heard the loud rumbling noise. Then suddenly he got hit in the face with a glob of bubblegum that shot out of the volcano. It knocked him to the ground and he had passed out.
“I don’t know how long I was out but when I opened my eyes I had the worst headache and blurred vision,” Chewy says. “Someone was pulling my arm and then started carrying me to safety. I blacked out again. When I woke up I was in someone’s house but when I walked around the house no one was there. My head was hurting but I had to get back to find both of you. I walked outside and everything looked strange. I wasn’t in Cake Town anymore. I went outside and started walking down the street. This donut dog came over to me and he told me that his name was Dachs. He explained to me what had happened in Cake Town. Then I remembered the loud rumbling noise. I told him that I had to go back to find my parents. He told me that no one survived and the castle that I lived in was gone. He offered to help me get settled in and he became a good friend of mine. We were living in Candy Town and we had really become good friends. He introduced me to his friend CupCake Carl and we become a threesome.”
Chewy sees Jimmy crossing the bridge and Odus is talking to him. He waves hi and then the two of them have to get lunch.
