Tiffi checks things out

Another day goes quickly and it is now nighttime. Kimmy can’t wait to go to sleep to prove to her sister that her teddy bears came to life. Hugs and kisses and they say goodnight to each other. 

Kimmy has difficulty falling asleep because she wants to make sure that she is awake when Bubsy starts reading the book again. She does drift off. No noise. She wakes up and looks at the shelves and the teddy bears are still there. 

“Please don’t make a liar out of me Bubsy,” Kimmy says. “If you haven’t started reading to the bears when Tiffi comes into my room, she will laugh me right out of the house! All the way back to Soda Town!” 

Shortly after drifting off, she hears the noise and wakes up. She jumps out of the bed and the bears are no longer on the shelves. She walks to the other side of the shelves and there they are on the floor and Bubsy is about to start reading. 

“Hi Kimmy, I am happy that you are joining us tonight,” Bubsy says. “Ok bears how about the the milkmaid and her pail?”

‘A Milkmaid had been out to milk the cows and was returning from the field with the shining milk pail balanced nicely on her head. As she walked along, her pretty head was busy with plans for the days to come.’

The bedroom door opens and Tiffi peaks in. Kimmy waves for her to join them but it’s so dark that she can’t see Kimmy waving to her. Bubsy continues reading.

"This good, rich milk," she mused, "will give me plenty of cream to churn. The butter I make I will take to market, and with the money I get for it I will buy a lot of eggs for hatching. How nice it will be when they are all hatched and the yard is full of fine young chicks. Then when May day comes I will sell them, and with the money I'll buy a lovely new dress to wear to the fair. All the young men will look at me. They will come and try to make love to me,—but I shall very quickly send them about their business!"

As she thought of how she would settle that matter, she tossed her head scornfully, and down fell the pail of milk to the ground. And all the milk flowed out, and with it vanished butter and eggs and chicks and new dress and all the milkmaid's pride.’  (Info here)

Kimmy is tired and Bubsy tells the bears that it’s time for sleep. Kimmy doesn’t see Tiffi at all. She goes down the hall to check her room and Tiffi is fast asleep. Guess Kimmy will talk to her in the morning.
