When the girls get back to the tree they see Doctor Zed leaning against it. He’s reading the book so he doesn’t see them approach the tree.
Elsa takes the mint and walks over to the other side of the tree. She places this herb on the ground and near the roots of the tree. Then she steps back and the girls hide in the bushes.
Doctor Zed suddenly gets a strong smell hitting his nostrils. What is that horrific smell? It gets stronger because the wind has picked up and pushes the scent in his direction.
“I have to get away from here,” Doctor Zed thinks to himself. “I feel my throat closing up.”
He is in such a rush to get away from the smell that he drops the book as he runs. The girls start laughing and Elsa goes to get the book. Now they can safely return it to Professor Alpha.
They return the book to Professor Alpha.
“Girls, I can’t thank you enough for finding my book,” Professor Alpha says. “I’ve been trying to keep Doctor Zed out of this town for many years now. Elsa, I love your idea of how we can keep him from coming back again. However, the smell will affect us too so you might have to come back here every so often to put out a new trap for him.”
Elsa tells him that she is going to get a peppermint tree and put it on the edge of town. But she warns him that if he does need to go into that area to make sure he puts on a face mask, just like the ones that everyone is using now because of the COVID-19 virus.
Our story now comes to an end …………………….. All’s Well That Ends Well!
