Tiffi asks Elsa for some help

The interesting pattern of a giraffe's coat is likely for camouflage.

At one time people in Africa called them camel-leopards because they looked like a combination of a camel and a leopard.

When a giraffe baby is born it will fall five to six feet to the ground and typically land on its head. Wow, what a way to start things off!

Newborns can stand within 30 minutes of being born and can run after about 10 hours.

Despite their long necks, they have the same number of vertebrae as a human…seven. (Source

Tiffi has read enough for now. She needs to find a way to communicate with these giraffes. She knows that Google has a translator but how is she going to find out what language they are speaking. Aha! Maybe Elsa can help her.

“Hi Elsa, how are you doing?” asks Tiffi. “I need your help. I haven’t spoken to you since we finalized the wedding plans but I have to talk to you about what I found just now in Bamboo Forest.

A few days ago Rachel called asking if I wanted to do something with her. Everything for the wedding was all set to go and she was bored. She asked if I wanted to go to the zoo. We had a great time and we had a guide who walked us around and taught us quite a bit about each species of animals. On the way out of the zoo I noticed 3 giraffes behind us. I didn’t realize that they were following us all the way here into the Candy Kingdom. I just found them here in Bamboo Forest but they don’t speak English. I have no idea what language they are speaking so if I hold the phone near them could you possibly tell me if you know what language they are speaking?”

Gandalf is talking to Rocco and it doesn’t take Elsa long to come up with an answer for Tiffi.

“I think they are speaking Spanish,” says Elsa. “I can’t speak Spanish but I’ve heard the odd word here and there so it definitely sounds like Spanish.”

Tiffi thanks her friend and promises to get together with her real soon. She tells the panda bears that they are conversing in Spanish. But now she will definitely need Google translate so that she can speak to them.

Let’s continue – Tiffi struggles with the translations

Start at the beginning - What are the giraffes trying to say?
