Jelly Queen, Misty and Olivia are a threesome team. Looks like they are going to be creating @mercerik’s favorite characters. Jelly Queen goes online to look at the directions.

‘The key to success for this project (well, besides a steady hand some patience) is the right paintbrushes. I bought a high quality round detailing brush and a couple of small flat brushes. Cheap brushes are hard to control. The detailing brush was $6 at Hobby Lobby and the others were a similar price. They were SO worth it. I used acrylic paint – the kind in the craft aisle for about $1.00-$1.50 per bottle.

Luke  - For Luke, I sketched out the design with pencil first.

Then I painted the flesh color on the face. I could still see the pencil face underneath, which was very helpful. Then I painted the body color, and added a gray outline to the robe. For the hair, the eyebrows and the outline of the hair are the color that came out of the bottle. I added white to lighten it for the hair.

Yoda - Yoda was a little more tricky! I sketched out the face completely, even though I knew I wouldn’t be able to see it after I painted on the green. After painting the green layer, I actually could see a few pencil lines which did help me to get the face right. I added a little black to the face color to create an outlining color. (When darkening a color, it does not take much black to make it darker!). I added a little bit of white hair to the back of Yoda’s head.

Princess Leia

I used the LEGO Princess Leia as inspiration for the face, which worked quite well. Like Luke and Han, the face color of paint didn’t completely cover the pencil drawing of the face, which was very helpful.

Here’s a view from the side. Princess Leia’s hair is dark brown with reddish brown for the details.

Darth Vader and Storm Trooper

These two were super easy at first – just start with a solid white egg and a solid black egg! But then I had to figure out the faces! Again, clip art to the rescue because it simplifies the details.’ (Source)

She makes a list of the characters that they might be able to do and she calls both Misty and Olivia to give them the information.

And now we come to our last team of Elsa and Tiffi. The cactus plants look adorable. Tiffi goes online to check out the materials that they will need.

MATERIALS

eggs

green egg dye

fine tip black marker

small terracotta pots

decorative gravel

pink or yellow tissue paper and glue (optional)

STEP ONE: Dye eggs.

I used two different shades of green and this homemade egg dye recipe.

STEP TWO: Draw thorns.

Make sure the eggs are completely dry. Pat with a paper towel first, if needed. Using a fine tip black marker, draw on thorns.

You can draw lines, a line of x’s, or little free form prickly pear thorns. It’s up to you! If your lines aren’t smooth or spaced perfectly, don’t fret! That just makes it look more like the real thing.

Optional: Cut squares of tissue paper. Scrunch them up and glue them to the top with kid’s school/Elmer’s glue.

STEP THREE: Nestle in pots.

Pour decorative gravel into small terracotta pots. I found both the gravel and the pots inexpensively at Michaels. I know Walmart carries some mini pots as well.

Nestle finished eggs inside. Done!’ (Source)

After reading everything Tiffi calls Elsa to share the information. Elsa tells Tiffi that @Lola_Pop is having the Friends’ GMs post this as a contest starting on Monday, 22 March.

“I will contact PrettyBubbles asking her to tell her community friends to be at the contest in the Friends’ community first thing Monday morning,” says Elsa. “Tiffi please contact your character friends and give them the same information.  I will be waiting for all of you in the Friends game community first thing Monday morning.

Hugs and kisses goodbye.

Let’s continue – It’s contest time!
