@ellise looks like your game is not connecting to the king server, If you have done the tips above and updated game to latest version and restated device. It could be a temporary problem with the king servers. might be worth waiting and trying a little bit later to see if problem still persist.
Do you have another device you can try to see if you are getting same results
Chocolate box server error. It's been 2 weeks
I am still having a server can not connect also and I have tried all the helpful hints. Please correct the problem!!! It has just been since the new chocolate box contest. I believe the problem has not been solved based upon the number of posts.

I am having troubles with the Chocolate box as well since the new box was available and have tried everything suggested even uninstalled and reinstalled my game and still has not helped out any! This makes this game not as interesting, almost ready to quit playing!!!!
