How Does One Get Rid Of This Bugger?

Towards the upper left of the large box at the bottom, there is some sort of an organism. I've tried everything to get rid of, which I assume is the object of this exercise, but nothing seems to work. In this particular game, I have nothing left to do, except getting ONE of whatever I'm supposed to accomplish, with TWENTY-EIGHT moves left to do it. I really want to get through this level, so I'm hoping someone can tell me how to finish this game successfully.
