I didn’t understand why I only got 4 of the 8 gems even though I found a lot more than 4 gems. I didn’t realize that I had to pass 45 levels. Some of these contests are ridiculous and not winnable. Ridiculous

That is not quite what we mean @OlgaP
You don't have to complete 45 levels to collect the green gems that is just how many levels it took Tzvi to collect them
If you have seen more than eight and only got four then I can only guess that you didn't complete the level on the first attempt. To collect the gems you have to complete the level it appears in on the first try.

Hi @OlgaP you did not need to pass 45 levels to complete the event; but as gems are very unevenly distributed from one game to the other, you may have to play many more levels than othe players did. In order to collect the gems, you did have to crush them when they appeared and win the level. If you don't win the level, the gem is then not collected and will not reappear on that game during your new attempts to complete it. That may be the reason why you thought you had collected more gems than were actually counted in the event.

Glad that @nekocat has responded to your question on Season Mastery, which was first announced a month ago, pl see King's official announcement outlining essential points about this event + why not all players have that in their game (yet):
I only had it in 2 of my family accounts (out of 5) 6 days ago.

Does anyone know what the reward is that looks like a 3-D gold star inside a multi colored circle? I’ve won at least 15 of these in the last week, but they don’t appear on my score board anywhere. Thanks

HI there @pnypoulos .These are Season Mastery points, and not boosters: that's why you will not see them on your score board. But in your events , you should have something like that:

Ok gals and guys! 👋 this is it, the leaderboard event is on! 🏃🏃♂️🏃♀️
I have not started it yet, but apparently gem collection will be possible in old levels. New levels will earn more points (30 multiplier). Green candies are all reskinned into diamonds.

Yup, the Gem Hunt leaderboard is here, together with other events. So my usual, feeding a few birds with the same candies, whether it's green diamonds or simple orange (pumpkin) candies.
First: Gem Hunt, still a long way to race, to kick off I got the glitched board with puzzled orders (easy to guess though) :
Love the diamonds when green candies were crushed.
Second, there is the Candy Quests event:
The first 2 quests gave me the needed 2 badges to complete for Season Mastery Gold rewards
Love the rewards, and the pat on the shoulder:
Lastly, there's the usual Champions Race.
What a busy 40 minutes, taking a break now.
