I'm bored with this already. Why are these qualifying rounds so long?

Is it even possible to NOT qualify for the knockout stages? There are only 10 players per leaderboard and the top five get through. By my maths that means half of all Candy Crush players go through to the next round. And the other half that didn't make it gets a second chance a week later… It's all too drawn out and tedious. I'm bored already. Was it like this last year?

Yes @christinewupp that is exactly how I remember it and that is basically the feedback I gave to King when I received a survey about it.
