@Deryck king had people on our Leaderboard before and it was fun to know where our friends were on the game. With adding these new players to the board I really don't think that would encourage us to do anything different than we have been doing. If I was a newbie it probably wouldn't matter who's on the board. I don't think most people will play catch up with strangers. Personally I like it it makes not feel alone.
I get what you're saying @cookiemae, but I think hearing from actual CCS newbies on the subject would give more insight. I agree that as longtime players, this change wouldn't affect our habits one way or the other. As you point out, we were aware leaderboards existed in the first place.
But even some Community newbies have expressed not knowing about the level scoreboards. So, these "strangers on the map" can serve as their incentive IMO.
To get back onto the topic here, as one of the players who now can tap on those random player icons to befriend them I am rather put off by the fact that they all seem to be carefully picked by King to match my play! Okay, so we do know that King are control freaks, but it now seems they want to control who we should choose as friends as well. All of those player icons in my game are people who have passed at least 100 levels this week, which, given that I'm playing at level 1071 seems odd, to say the least. It's certainly not a random selection of players at my level range, and I doubt any of them would need me to befriend them or send them lives. They seem to know how to beat this game and probably zoom through the episodes without losing any lives. I would like to have friends and send lives to players that actually need them. That would be my suggestion and request: Just put in random players. Those in my game are definitely NOT random.
