Level 2
I've been playing Candy Crush for 10 years, currently at level 16,986. A couple of days ago during a timed contest for the very first time—I purchased some gold bars and boosters for $2.99. That's when the game suddenly changed it's character for the worse…badly!
No opportunity to watch ads to earn boosters, no amount of extra moves offered after losing a level without having to use gold bars, no events to earn free boosters…NOTHING. Is this the way King treats you when you put out cash to buy some boosters?
It's like some evil AI logarithm that now knows you will pay, so it stops giving anything free.
Will this ever revert back to normal? Or now will I be in this version of Candy Crush Purgatory from now on? I'll tell you one thing—I'm not going to purchase anything ever again. And if this turns out to be permanent—I strongly suggest NOBODY EVER PAY FOR BOOSTERS…not even 1 time. You'll regret it.
Hello @Deadbug It's been many years now that we have heard reports exactly like yours. In fact we have NEVER yet heard from any player here who made a purchase and then carried on being able to see adverts and gain freebies from them, it is so definitely true that the algorithm you describe exists. About a year and a half ago I tested this out when I had annoying ads in two of my games. Three days after making a small purchase the ads were gone, to my relief, as I actually find them annoying and at the time thought that as King change our games in response to spending money they might include better events to compensate. I am still undecided about this. A lot of us play very successfully entirely for free, though never getting any help from ads at all, so there must be some compensation mechanism. King do change which "test group" players are assigned to with regards to what events we get and more importantly which version of events players see in their games. This is how they control our games. They do make changes month after month, but it would appear that this one you have just encountered is the one feature of the game that is permanent: Anyone who spends real money automatically loses the ads. We have been warning about this for years here. Welcome to the Community. Come and join us in the other threads and keep warning others about this.
christinewupp—thank you so much for your reply, even though it confirms my worst fear. Above all, I wish I knew about this fatal flaw in the game by spending time on the forum here. Unfortunately I didn't and was totally unaware of this. Yes, I found the ads annoying but a very small price compared to the resentment I'm feeling towards King's marketing/management for ruining the game for me. I would've gladly purchased from time to time in a tight spot with the game remaining as it was previously.
Thank you again for taking the time to reply.
The same thing happened to me, it's sad but I'm not willing to pay for help. It is disloyal to the players that we have been with them for many years.
Thanx for confirming my beliefs of what was going on. I'm going broke trying to get to the next thousand. I can't even recoup what they took from me. I had time left on my Season pass but had completed it and the upgrade but had not collected any of the boosters because I had bought the 19.99 package and was still on the 12 hour clock and didn't need any yet. King decided to close out my Sp and did not give me my boosters and I paid for the upgrade so all of those boosters I paid for. What's up with that and they won't give me an answer. They keep sending me to the community.

I heard that a lot of users lost free boosters and free moves ads too. I have another account which I don't use anymore for some reasons. I don't see any ads in that account too. I wish I could see free boosters and free moves ads again in this new account. Free boosters and free moves ads are very useful when you need a few moves to win, so that you don't need to play from the beginning.
Have you checked the official thread about the Season Pass? Sorry if we have already had this conversation maybe, but I can't check if you have as your profile is private.
Re my initial post at the beginning of this thread, I am now considering doing what I really don't want to do…and start over from the beginning with a different userid and account just to get the fun of the game back that was completely ruined by just one purchase!
Can anybody list the steps for me to do this on my ipad and iphone? Will the “start from level 1” with a new account/userid work in my case to get rid of the evil King algorithm that is trying to force me to purchase only and removed any option to watch ads for free boosters and lives? If that option does not work, I will have to leave thus game forever, sadly. I hope someone can help.
Yes..it does seem when you buy a booster, play gets worse..kinda like, you bought one for tough play..you will buy more..
Yes I can @Deadbug , since I have done this lots of times. One thing I do just to make sure that all the cookies King have placed onto our devices are deleted is to go into Settings on my iPad, then Apps and then Safari and there click on "Clear all History and Website Data" in blue near the bottom. I do this after uninstalling the Candy Crush app, before I reinstall it. That seems to be the surest way to start off again truly as a new player and hopefully will also mean you get the ads back. I got ads in both of my latest game I started like this. Your progress and gold bar balance for your previous game will remain at King's Server for a long time should you ever want to retrieve it. But with the app uninstalled and reinstalled you should then be able to save it as a new player. Choose a different email address and password and save it to a King account, not Facebook as that is always full of glitches. But in all honesty you don't even have to save it. I've played thousands of levels on my iPad without ever creating an account, the game just saves everything anyway and reloads automatically every time I open the app. You even get assigned a player ID without creating an account. I think King like us to create accounts so they can keep track of who we are.
Thank you SO much @christinewupp! That was the information I was looking for. 😊
