Our Team is currently investigating this issue but in the meantime, our community member @SApple2 has provided a workaround that has been helpful for other and we encourage you to try the following:

This issue is being investigated by the Studio. At this moment we don’t have an update.

However, there was a similar issue with Win10 before and some players downloaded the latest version of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable which solved the crashing problem.

I'm using the Windows app, and not having any issues. What happens when you try to load the game? Be very descriptive so we know what's happening. If you get an error message, let us know exactly what that is as well.

That's what I got on here to find out. At least it's not just my laptop doing it. Sometimes a black screen will appear for a few seconds and others it is just a flash. I even uninstalled and installed it again after restarting my computer.

I'm also on Windows 10. I have an automatic update of this game. The last update was yesterday. If you don't get an automatic update, you might want to visit the Microsoft Store and check for the current update and download that. If it still does not work after that then try to get support from CCSS:

Where does it say that there is an auto update? I uninstalled and reinstalled and didn't fix anything. Surely that would have taken care of any missed updates.

Automatic update is an option on Windows Update. Yes. Uninstalling and reinstalling should have taken cared of the current update unless it was done prior. If you did it after the update and still won't work then I also suggested to get help from the Help Center.

We downloaded the game from the same place and we are using the same type of device, mine works perfectly fine so it could be specific to your need. Perhaps King's Player Support can help you.
