Did you both try this step --> Log out of the game - do not open it for few hours - Log in again.

Also, if you have Facebook account and King account, while logging in, try to switch them. That will work too (that's what I do). When I am logged in through Facebook account, I will log out and after few hours, I will log in through Kingdom account; or vice versa. This trick has worked for me most of the times (not 100%)! But, definitely worth a try👍️
