    Dear Elsa!

    When it's over with Covid 19, why not take a vacation in Germany. We have beautiful corners and the mountain range is near me. You have probably heard of that before. Chemnitz borders on the Ore Mountains. You can collect more information there. It will be an expedition for you.

    You guys rock! I am loving all that you are writing.

    @SBH what was school like in Poland? Did you have to learn English as an elective course?

    @Sofia1992 I can't remember if we used school bags back then. You were very lucky to have good teachers. I remember my French teacher had this long metal yardstick that she would keep banging on a desk to get everyone's attention. I remember that pencil case with colored pencils but they didn't have that when I was in school. I remember seeing it in the stores when my kids were in school.

    @me6412 it's totally insane what's going on here in the USA with the virus. I forgot that flu season is around the corner. They still aren't sure if someone can get it again right? It's a total nightmare. That is totally cool that you became an RPA but sad that you can't continue in that field. You triggered a memory for me - Davey Crockett! When I read that name in your message the song popped into my head. I remember watching that on TV. Now I might have to see what's online and maybe write a story about him and Tiffi. Reading about graphic design and your interest in it brought me back to how much I would love to do that. If I was much younger I would go back to school and become a graphic designer for games. I took a couple of free online classes for this but most of what they were talking about was colors. I can't draw but I have bought a couple of programs and maybe this week it's time to really try to do something. I bought Clip Studio Paint and so far I've done 2 things with it. I changed a color picture to a gray scale which I used in my salt story. Maybe this week I've got to check it out further.

    Hi @Pcj, with the online schooling how exactly does that work? Do they have Zoom meetings? Do the teachers offer videos for the kids to watch?

    @Sharon_Loose when I wrote the story I just picked up articles from Google. I know that with the English we did not learn critiquing anything. We did Shakespeare and some literature figures that I can't remember now. Someone might respond and jog my memory. Of course, it was all about grammar! Since I lived in Canada and we were ruled by the British government we were taught the English grammar! It had to be perfect. Then when I was in college I had to take English again and I didn't realize how much I either forgot or they changed it. My math was algebra and geometry. I disliked geometry because I could never understand the angles thing but I loved playing with the protractor. I know we did biology but we didn't do much chemistry, just learned some symbols so we didn't have an actual chemistry class. I just thought that I'd throw some courses out there for my story. When I finished it I realized that I never did history! So maybe I'll have to do a second semester story with history. I love your story about walking into class with your brother. 😁

    @KimElston I also wasn't too fond of school. In your school what was the social life like? Did they have dances, sports. I remember in my high school they used to have sock hop dances. I am really aging myself. I remember taking my socks off and then standing against a wall praying that I could become part of the wall and not be seen. I was shy and I don't know why I allowed my friend to convince me to go to those dances. The Generation Z kids of today would have no idea what our life was all about. They know social media and not much more. I remember being a kid and calling people to ask if their refrigerator was running and then telling them to run after it. That was the one bad thing that we did. If I told my grandchildren this they would all look at me "like what did you do?". LOL!

    Yes @elsa we had plenty of school sports and dance evenings. I usually preferred to be in the background. Me and lime light just didn't get on yet I loved to watch and support my friends that's when I was happiest 🙂

    @KimElston you sound a lot like me, staying in the background.

    Hi @Elsa st the end of last school year my son would do his school work on Google classroom app on their own time we just needed to submit work by time set by teacher . They would have a Zoom meeting once every two weeks but not all students would participate. We also have an app called Remind where we can send and receive messages with the teacher. I will send you a picture of his work sheets he did. He would do work on paper then either edit on work sheet on Google classroom or we could send pictures thru Remind app. This school year is suppose to be different online with teacher at same time. Following schedule as if they are in school. I will let you know how our first day goes next Monday.

    @Spinnifix your area is beautiful!

    My husband has always loved anything and everything having to do with Colditz Castle. For those that aren't familiar, it housed a super POW camp during WW2. Though not a happy subject on the surface, it was where they put the chronic escapers. Sort of a Hogan's Heros on steroids. Great stories! The British prisoners met their German officers and guards years later and became great friends.

    We drove "the triangle" after spending a few days in Colditz.

    I think it was the fall of 2004. Very friendly people❣

    @Leslie_B

    Thank you. Many foreigners also come to the Ore Mountains. Because it is really very beautiful. Even there the craftsmanship comes from Christmas and Easter. A picture of the flying buttress.

    Yes, I'm leaving school for Christmas. That is fun. But the Christmas season is also available during the school year. Because there is the Christmas break. So I stick to the topic. It's fun and it's funny !!😂

    I live in Oregon, USA. We are having a bit of an upswing in Covid cases right now. Not horrible but schools are online until November or so in the more populated areas. Our govenor said that online could last until April if things don't calm down.

    I feel so badly for all of the kids that are stuck at home. So many stories from all ages. Not knowing when it will end.

    I was raised in a small town. We always walked to school. I think that I knew every family in every house that I passed even though it was just under a mile walk. My grade school was new so we were surrounded by fields which slowly filled in over the years.

    The teachers had a hard time keeping us in the school yard during recess. My first grade teacher told us that there were giant carrots growing in the old barn directly behind our classroom. For some reason this scared us to death. None of us went anywhere near the barn. They tore down the barn within a few years and surrounded the school with a chain link fence to keep us in. Eventually I got a bike. There were hundreds of bikes in the racks that lined the athletic field. Such freedom. Very safe and secure. This was in the 60's. By the 80's things had changed. Very sad.

Hey! Would you like to give us your opinion?
