Rachel really wants a winter wonderland wedding so that’s a definite. But where? That she has to discuss with Rancid. Now it’s time to check out what flowers are available at that time of year.
‘Brides getting married in the winter may worry there will not be many floral varieties and colors available. Far from it! There are many winter wedding flowers to choose from.
The flowers in season for winter weddings are: Amaryllis, Anemone, Camellias, Casablanca Lilies, Forget-me-nots, French Tulips, Gardenias, Holly, Jasmine, Orchids, Mini Gerberas, Paperwhites (Narcissus), Poinsettias, and Roses.’ (Source)
Then an article catches her eye. It’s the history of the bridal bouquet so she reads it.
‘The practice of brides carrying bouquets dates to antiquity," Owens tells us. "Ancient Greeks and Romans, even Egyptians, carried fragrant herbs and spices to ward off bad luck during weddings." The flowers symbolized a new beginning and brought hopes of fertility, happiness, and fidelity. "It wasn’t until the Victorian age that we see the birth of the wedding bouquet as we know it today," she says. "While flower symbolism was hugely popular then, and brides were able to communicate their romantic sentiments through their specific floral choices, that practice has faded a bit, with modern couples choosing their flowers based more on beauty and color."
Another big reason brides originally started carrying them centuries ago was because of the perfume of the flowers, which masked their body odor (you know, back when bathing wasn't such a frequent occurrence). Since today’s brides aren’t so concerned with hiding an unpleasant smell, the bouquet’s main purpose these days is to be a beautiful accessory.’ (Source)
She really loves roses so she thinks maybe some pink or off white roses might work well. She decides that she will contact Blossom and have her gather all the flowers for the wedding.
