Hi all!

We have some news on this... This is currently working as intended.

This is currently working as intended when playing levels: you can still use the landscape mode, but for the map and for some features like Kimmy's arcade (you can share your feedback about the feature with us here), you will need to tilt your phone or tablet and your game will work as intended.

We are doing this in order to be able to provide a better player experience for you all. This change enables us to deliver new cool features in the long term.

In the meanwhile, please keep sending your feedback our way.

To clarify, there are two scenarios:

1) Kimmy's Arcade cannot be played on landscape. (There might be an issue with this one that we're investigating and discussing here)
2) The map is not displayed on landscape. Levels are though. (This is working as intended)

We want to make it as easy and natural as possible to all of you out there, so all feedback is welcome. Was the messaging of "please rotate your device to play the arcade" in the screenshot not clear enough?

My rotation lock is on. Always is. It’s not my device. Started with last update yesterday. iPad software is up to date. I’ll go back to what I already said. I want to play landscape. I load the app and it is landscape. I click play and the screen turns to portrait on the level select screen. I choose the level and it turns back to landscape. Landscape is what I want but I can’t see the level select screen in landscape. Something is wrong with you last update.

What happens ic you move the iPad like rotating it. That is one thing that I don’t like about my iPad. It rotates too easily so maybe it’s not the game but the device.

clesr one thing up for me please. Are you looking to play portrait and it rotates to landscape. Or is it the opposite?

Still not working right. Loads portrait. Select level and play and it loads landscape. Finish level or quit level it goes back to portrait.

@rmpmap, after you play the level and it comes back does it remain in portrait mode or does it eventually go back to handscape? The more information that you all give me the better I can tag the manager to elevate it to the studio.

Same thing is happening to me on the iPad. Main screen is not loading landscape mode. But if you play a level it switches to landscape. It’s annoying.

You do not have to start at the beginning again. I am not on my computer now to get you the links so I will write to you again in the morning. The links will help you get your progress back. Were you playing through Facebook or King while playing the game?

Ok...now it won’t let me register via facebook and I’ve lost all my history. Won’t be playing this game any more as I can’t be bothered to start again! 🥺

Hi @Beels44, no one is in the office and it's now the weekend. Please clear your history and try it again. Can you still pllay the game even if's in the width instead of the length? As the community manager mentioned above they tried figure it out but could not reproduce the same thing.

There are no changes to this that we know of. Can you confirm that this is only happening to you on Soda? We have tested here due to your point and could not reproduce the same behaviour.

They’ve changed the main level page on Candy Crush but not the necessity to rotate the screen...granted it looks odd in landscape but if it means I don’t have to move my screen, I can live with it. I don’t understand why they can’t do this with Candy Crush Soda?! 🤨

Exactly what @everyman said. I honestly think they are just making up their reasoning because when I first reported it I was told they didn’t know why it was happening and they couldn’t replicate it. I usually quit games that are an inconvenience and candy crush sofa is next. After all it’s only a game right 😫

This is annoying me no end. The portrait map is quite irritating, but ok. And yes, I can play levels in landscape, but then when you play a reward video to get a couple of extra moves, for example, the screen switches to portrait and the video stays in landscape, which means the x to close it is not on the screen. I just want to play the main levels in landscape mode without glitches due to poor programming. Please sort your game out.

I refuse to play it until this is fixed. So far the other candy crush games don’t have this. Please fix.

I will no longer be playing King games because of the portrait view. Players should have a choice whether they want to play in landscape or portrait view. It’s been fun but I’m done playing

I’ve uninstalled. When you stop forcing the orientation, please send email updates and I’ll come back. Otherwise enjoy the money you have from last purchase as I’m leaving it behind. Yea, it’s that bad.

For people who have played this for years on a tablet in a case with a keyboard, having to flip it over every. single. time. you finish a level, it's awkward and frustrating. I played this game more because I didn't have to hold my iPad up--just set it on the table/desk/lap/whatever and I could charge it at the same time. I've spent more time on this game over the years than I care to admit. It was always my go-to when I had some spare time. Now, it's just frustrating.

If it was just for the arcade, fine. That part of the game is optional right?

In general, it doesn't matter what the app or game is, requiring the user to rotate back and forth constantly is BAD DESIGN.

When I open the app it starts out in landscape but after the game opens it flips making playing the game unenjoyable. My preferred screen for this game is landscape. I was not having this problem until the game updated two days ago.

The changes are Terrible. Landscape mode sucks now because portrait is thrown at us every few minutes. This is awful. I agree.

I play the game on a Chromebook which means that i can only play in landscape mode. This portrait only feature has meant i cannot play anymore. Clearly this idea has not been fully thought through to consider customers on all platforms...

App works fine on windows. I believe they optimized the app for computers and it messed up tablets 😡

They have no clue how to fix it so we’re getting the run around. Works fine on computer. No rotating. Screen lock is not the issue. Thank you so much for thinking we are all not familiar with our iPads.

This app for iPad is getting worse and worse. Keeps crashing. Screens aren’t loading and still the rotation. By all means King don’t fix it. You’ve optimized it for computer only. Thank you

Game restart
I am wondering why my game has reset twice in the last 2 weeks. I do play every morning. I was in the 300 plus days and it reset saying I hadn’t played the day before ( game did an update) and then I was on day 8 and it told me I hadn’t played the day before.
