School days, school days, dear old golden rule days ....
School days, school days
Dear old golden rule days
Reading and writing' and rithmetic ...........
(Listen to the song on YouTube here)
The beginning of the school year is approaching fast. Since we all live in different countries the first day of school will be different everywhere. In the USA, some states start before Labor Day, while others start right after the holiday weekend. With the COV-19 still active in the USA there is a big controversy going on regarding in-class vs online class. The teachers do not want in-class, nor do a lot of parents. At the moment in my state the governor has said 2 days in-class and 3 days online class, but that could change at any time. Some of the colleges have started up with in-class and they are already seeing students taking advantage of partying. The 3 or 4 schools have been on the news and you can read more about a what’s going on here.
Back to the topic!
I just uploaded my new story – School days, school days ………..
For those of you who enjoy reading my stories, I think you’re going to enjoy this! By the way, this story has been dedicated to @Sofia1992 and @candycrushinit since Nutcracker is their favorite character.
I would like to hear from all of you so let’s all post a message about school. It can be an update on how the schools in your area are planning to handle in-class with the virus. It could be a memory that you cherish about when you were in school. It could be a comparison of your country’s school to another country’s school system. Or, it could be a memory of your first day of school and what it was like.
Don’t be shy and please share……………………..
Signed with love from Elsa, storyteller

@CandyCrushIsCool did you forget to write out a school story?

Ok time for me to share a story. @Spinnifix I think that I've been out of school longer than you. I'm just curious to know what the different countries teach. For example, did you study World History? Living where you are, did you study the history with the holocaust? I went to school in Canada and we learned Canadian History. I can't remember now if we did World History. I'm sure we all did the same math but somehow I want to say that China is probably much more advanced in some school areas than the USA or Canada. Maybe someone who lives in China can confirm this.
So if I have to share any of my school memories, I want to say that wayyyyyyy back when I started school the cut off school date was Dec. 31st and since my birthday was on Dec. 30th, I started school when I was only 4 years old. It was very traumatic for me and I remember my teacher pulling me by my arm up the stairs as my mother stood at the bottom of the stairs. The teacher was telling her to leave and that I'd be fine. I guess I must have gotten over that because I made it right through all the school years.
When I was in my first year of high school we had a French teacher who was going to teach us to write in French. She walked into the class and only spoke French and we all looked at each other and had no clue what she was talking about. I made it through her class but only learned how to read and translate. I could never have a conversation in French because they speak too fast and my mind only knows how to translate.
Ok, who wants to go next?

Thanks for tagging me @Diamond Lim!
In my state of Ohio, I have been stated to stay at home and do online work after Labor Day. I don’t know how long I will have to do it, but I think it will be for the first two quarters.
And I will share a memory with you about my school year. Before I moved to a new school, it was fun hanging out with my friends and doing everything together. We always ate lunch together and hang out on the blacktop area near the recreation center. We even went on a camping trip together with the 7th graders and went to OSU for an event. I really like all my awesome teachers. They are nice and funny too. We had a blast back when we’re in 6th grade. The MAP rewards, the in-class pizza party, and others too. My teacher even ordered Roosters wings for the entire class as a reward for working so hard on the MAP test. For a long boring test comes with a big reward at the end if you do well.
After I moved, I felt like I was an outsider in my new school. It was so crazy and no one was like any of my friends, until I met one. We had fun together. And we enjoyed more rewards like the time when my new reading teacher baked brownies for the class for working so hard on the MAP test. They were so good. And then a few weeks later, the teacher next door brought cookies to go along with the brownies that we love.
And then before COVID-19 came, we had a huge party filled with pizza and cookies. Me and some other people played UNO while others watched a movie or just played on their phones. My new friend was jealous that I got to go because I passed both my reading and math MAP tests at the end of the year. Then just a week before it started, we said our goodbyes to our friends and our teachers. We cleaned out our lockers and gathered all our stuff. We thought we would come back after three weeks but the situation has gone worse and we had to continue school online. We attended video meetings to see how we’re doing at home and online school. I barely got all my assignments done but I passed.
It was such a lovely time before COVID-19. I wish all my friends, old and new, would stay safe during this unprecedented time and someday, we would see each other again.

Oh Wow thanks guys for sharing! @Spinnifix you are reminding me of when we also had to wear uniforms to school. I totally forgot about that. Right through elementary and then in high school we had to wear white tops nd a navy blue jumper. The boys probably had to wear white shirts and navy blue pants, but I can't remember that. I completely forgot about that. You also reminded me how we had to learn geography. Lucky for me I lived in Canada with only a few provinces. In the states, the kids geography and that map is too much for my brain to learn.
@candycrushinit it had to be hard for you guys to get used to online class learning. How did your teachers do that? By the way, did you know that I dedicated this school story to you since Nutcracker is your favorite character?
