I am currently in the Level 900 section and in the last few days, I cannot open the App. Every time I log on, it hangs for a few seconds and then takes me back to my home screen. I have turned off my phone, upgraded the software but it still isn’t working. If I re-install the app, would I have to start from the beginning?
Reinstalling did good for me. I can play again from where I left and I already saved up almost 10 of each booster. I am sorry it didnt work for you @debfortier , @momssuper :-( For people that try it:they should try it on a different device to see if their progress is saved...

It's quite frustrating, but yes, the reinstallation of the app would be the next step- that solves most of the technical issues!
You won't lose your levels nor your stored Gold Bars- they're saved in our system, and if you have a King account or play connected to Facebook, you'll just need to log into the account and will find them again. If you have never connected the game to the Kingdom nor Facebook, please create an account and we can restore your levels.
Please bear in mind that your stored lives and Boosters will possibly disappear, as these items are stored in your device and will be deleted when you uninstall the app. For more information on that, please read this.

I've checked with the Studio and they're still trying to reproduce the issue and tackle it. Until we know exactly what's the cause we cannot know if reinstalling the app solves the problem for everybody, but you can try it out- always keeping in mind it can cause to lose your Boosters!
